Ecumenical Work

While most of the activities of the Rhode Island State Council of Churches are ecumenical or interfaith in nature, the Faith and Order Commission led by the Rev. Mr. W. Scott Axford engages our denominations in spirited discussions of theological and ethical issues.  The commission also organizes an annual Christian Unity worship service.

In addition to the Faith and Order Commission, our Executive Minister participates in the New England Clergy Leaders Consultation, the northeast meeting of ecumenical and religious staff, and the National Council of State Council Executives.  The Council has a relationship with both the National Council of Churches (NCC) and the World Council of Churches (WCC). Rev. Axford has recently been appointed to the national Faith and Order Commission.
