Eric Hirsch

Helen Hudson Foundation Award

Eric Hirsch is Professor of Sociology at Providence College. He has an M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Chicago. He has published widely on homelessness, social movements, race relations, and community organizing, and has done extensive evaluation research on a variety of homeless programs. Professor Hirsch is Chair of the Rhode Island Homeless Management Information System Steering Committee. He has worked for over thirty years to end long-term homelessness in Rhode Island, and is the Interim Director of the Rhode Island Homeless Advocacy Project, a self-advocacy group focused on getting roofs over the heads of those currently living outside.
